Get Google approved links and traffic with a Link Wheel
64The Basics
Link building is an required part of internet marketing. Many people consider it to be blackhat since your connections are not developed naturally, but the same can be stated about link exchanges, purchasing links and even requesting someone to link to you. Plainly put, if a web site likes your internet site and places your link on their website, that is seen as a natural link, anything else, yes anything else is not considered to be whitehat in the all-seeing eyes of Google.
The goal here is to ensure that Google "knows" your link is natural by placing it on authorative websites without paying for anything. In fact, you can really earn money on these holdings via text ads and etc, but we won't focus on that since we're only promoting our own stuff.
You are here!
Tips for writing content for your "spokes"
There are really only two options when publishing content to these websites, you can either compose it yourself (or outsource it) for all the sites, wholly revising all of the article's contents prior to publishing to each site OR you can get a nice article spinner. If you do choose to spin the article then you are going to need to ensure that it's uniqueness remains above 30% to keep Google happy. Duplicate content is not going to help you here, and some sites have built in technology to check for dupe content and will certainly penalize you for it. Some may even remove your property, forcing you to start over.
Another important thing to remember is that you should also place your main keyword in the title of these pages as well as the title tag in your homepage. We are going to be targeting this keyword along the whole way so be sure you are choosing the best one. Don't waste your time with this method unless you fully intend to do all the little basic SEO techniques that you would do on any normal self hosted property. The more features you add to your page, the more it looks like a natural, non-marketing related site. A good site will look nothing like your typical spammy lens full of ads and cheap landing page links.
One thing I always ask before publishing is "Does this look like something I might buy?". If the answer is no, I tweak it until it does. A good measure of a sites potential is whether you can actually read through all the little text without breaking. If something you just wrote interests you enough to read again without the feeling of proofreading then you have a winner.
Hubpages can be specifically difficult when writing unique content. One thing that helps is its WYSIWYG editor with HTML source editing capabilities. It's very similar to the one used by Wordpress, with tons of font and formatting options. Be sure to use these tools to their full potential to create an eye catching article.
